The Creative Process Behind MXTX ***CANCELLED***

  • Blanton Museum 200 East Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard Austin, TX, 78712 United States (map)

As of March 13th, Blanton Museum cancelled all public programs through April 19th. This unfortunately has an impact on our planned program featuring MXTX. Should we have further updates or a rescheduling option, we will be sure to update this page.

The Blanton Museum of Art is pleased to partner with Austin’s Fusebox Festival in presenting a look into the process of creating the music for Golden Hornet’s MXTX with DJ-producer Orión García, composer-bandleader Graham Reynolds, and other guests. Part talk, part concert, this gives you a behind-the-scenes peek into a timely project that pairs well with the museum’s exhibition The Avant-Garde Networks of Amauta: Argenta, Mexico, and Peru in the 1920s. The cross-border project involves more than 40 artists and will ultimately result in an open-source audio sample library, an album, and live performances through a collaborative exchange between composers and DJ-producers from both sides of the Rio Grande. Presented by Golden Hornet and co-commissioned by Ballroom Marfa and Kathleen & Harvey Guion, MXTX is co-curated by Coka Treviño, Orión García, Felipe Pérez Santiago, and Graham Reynolds. This project is supported in part by the National Endowment for the Arts.

This is a FREE event. Reservations go live on March 26. Learn more HERE.
